UNO is an Australian online mortgage broker that combines exceptional service with cutting-edge technology to simplify the entire home loan process — from application to ongoing management — saving users both time and money. It’s a powerful tool designed to make mortgage brokers’ lives easier, and we’ve made that tool even more intuitive, streamlined, and user-friendly.
This is Vincent and his team — the people behind the development of the product and daily collaboration with brokers and clients. It was for them that we set out to enhance the platform, making it more efficient, intuitive, and user-friendly.

This is what the interface looked like when Vincent first approached us. We started by researching the platform’s primary user — the mortgage broker. According to Vincent, these are mostly middle-aged men who work on widescreen monitors or even multiple screens simultaneously.
Our goal was to deeply understand the context of their daily workflow and reimagine the interface to make it significantly more efficient, user-friendly, and tailored to the needs of real users.

After analyzing UNO’s existing interface and studying user behavior, we moved into the conceptual design phase. We developed hypotheses, created sketches and wireframes that laid the foundation for the platform’s redesign. This approach allowed us to quickly test ideas, adapt to real-world usage scenarios, and shape an effective design strategy.

Given UNO’s deeply nested information structure, we focused on designing modal windows that support multi-level navigation. Traditional stacked modals proved ineffective, as brokers need simultaneous access to related data. Instead, we implemented a side-by-side accordion-style system, allowing up to three modals to open at once—ensuring clarity without overwhelming the user.

Having defined the structure and logic of the modal windows, we moved on to the main UI grid, which is used in most UI screens.
